Feeding Chickens
Please ensure that you provide your chickens with plenty of fresh water, especially if you keep chickens to lay eggs. Always keep a water dish close to their coop so that it's easy to reach. If chickens don't drink enough water, they can die within a few hours, due to salt toxicity. Chickens won't drink water if it's dirty, so it's essential to check their water dish regularly.
Chicken Layers Pellets 20kg
Layers Pellets should be fed 3 weeks before your chickens start to lay, which is approximately 20 - 24 weeks of age, the point of lay will vary depending on the variety of chickens you keep, for instance Buff, Sussex, Brahmas and Wyandotte, they are also suitable for laying ducks and bantams.
Layers pellets contain optimum levels of essential omega 3 & 6 oils, fatty and amino acids for good egg size, with generous levels of calcium & phosphorus to help good shell strength, with added natural pigments Lutein & Zeaxathin from marigold and maize extracts and Citranaxanthin found naturally in fruits for a deep yolk colour.
Dodson and Horrell layers pellets do not require any additional limestone or oyster shell grit to accompany them, but access to grit or plant material to encourage natural foraging is recommended.
Lastly Dodson and Horrell layers pellets are 100% natural, are vegetarian society approved, don't contain any GM ingredients and suitable for both free range and outdoor laying chickens, so you can be assured that you are feeding your chickens a high quality balanced feed.
Typical feeding requirements for a chicken are approximately 110 - 125g per day, but this will vary depending on the variety of chickens you keep!
